I woke up this morning to a vision of a new quilt. No idea where it came from, as I remember no dreams about anything like that. Anyway, my mind's eye saw a twin-bed-sized rectangle (as opposed to the square of the dragonfly quilt) with a dark blue binding around a pure white border around a field with long, narrow strips of mottled blue & green -- probably a water print but maybe something leafy -- at either side, not full length and assymetrical lengthwise. Between those strips would be a mostly white field with more long, narrow blue & green strips making some as-yet-undefined but probably pretty random pattern. Maybe something to suggest a bunch of branches floating slowly along a river -- random occurrence, gently and slowly being organized by the realities of the natural environment.
But visually, it would be mostly the white field to show of one of the sashiko quilting patterns, also tbd. I don't think I'm describing it well, but I liked the mental image.
So it would be a bad idea to get on with this before finishing the dragonfly quilt, right? I find myself caring a lot more about the quilt tops than the finished batted & quilted & bound products.
