On balance, it was probably a good decision to head out for rockabilly last evening, despite the ankle issue. Brethren Fast seemed a little at a loss with one of the trio missing, and the lack of bass made their songs kind of thin in the middle. But they soldiered on nonetheless, probably a lesson for our times or something.

For once, Lincoln's Roadhouse wasn't jam-packed, so there was room to sit with a view of the stage. And for some odd reason, the crowd had unescorted women liberally mixed in, mostly a couple of large groups there together. The biker guys seemed to stay clustered over by the bar like they typically do and leave the women mostly alone, which seemed surprising, guys being what they are. But I left in the middle of the second set -- maybe the game got a little more intense as the evening progressed.

I could have done without the gang of girls doing shots and shrieking to show how much fun they were having and grabbing one another's asses. Hard on the ears. I fell heavily in lust, however, with this one woman, tall with dark hair of course, whose black shirt dipped way down to show off a gorgeous tattoo covering her whole back. Just incredibly hot -- she was not more than ordinarily pretty, I suppose, but carrying herself in a really confident way and with a nice ironic-seeming smile. I had found a small table over by the pool tables, the barstools being full when I rolled in, and I met her eyes a number of times when I looked over occasionally as she was playing a game against one of her girlfriends. She seemed to have a fun attitude, but blessedly without feeling compelled to shriek. Thought about finding a way to strike up a conversation, but I ended up just appreciating the view. Too bad I got no game.

Or maybe it's not too bad, really.
