I suddenly got tired of all the grey in the previous page design, then I set out to replace it. That took a while as I was semi-committed to build the page with DIV tags positioned by CSS rather than tables. The browsers interpret CSS positioning in different ways, however, so I had to futz with it for an inordinant period of time to get things to work well enough. I had it handled, I thought, then I logged in, and the skin header conflicted in all kinds of ways with the DNN admin panel at the top of the page. Bummer.
I was also over the flickr badge of arty photos in the header. Instead, I added a few badges of friends' most recent work so I can know to go check out new additions. I also upgraded the RSS module, which has made a vast improvement in that area. The new version includes an XSL template that I modified to show only three posts and omit the text summary. That way I can fit a bunch of headlines for stuff I follow within a relatively small plot of screen real estate. Whee! I do wish the module would let me config different feeds for different post counts, but you don't get everything you want. I was also bummed that the module doesn't deal effectively with the Atom feed from Miriam's blog. Looks like I can pick up an aftermarket module that'll do that, if I want, and I might look into it.
I still might do some tweaking with the headline colors & fonts. Otherwise, I'll be OK looking at this layout for a while..
