Who knew opera could be this great? Huge drama tends to get on the nerves, of course, but the music is worth the overwrought emotions. In fact, those really are true to their own kitsch and valid within their context.

And the scenery/costume design just filled my eyes! Big, deep monochrome sets with costumes that acted as accessories. Gorgeous!
